- Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 AFS was established in the year 1973. the 1st batch of the All India Secondary School Examination was sent in 1978. Vidyalaya was upgraded to +2 level in 1979 & started Science and Humanities stream in Class XI. The 1st batch of All India Sr. School Certificate Examination appeared in 1980.
- The school was formerly housed in the barracks in old project , AFS, Gorakhpur. It was shifted to the new Project in 1981. Due to its wide spread popularity in a short span of time, new sections came up with growing demand from central government employees including defence personnel’s for the admission of their children. The commerce stream at +2 stage was started in the year 1989.
- The school developed into a big institution with five sections in each class from I to X and two sections each in Class XI and XII in Science Stream one section each in Humanities and in Commerce Stream.
